CO-FOUNDER
Alli Cipra, PhD, is the co-founder of GR2IT. Her experience in research and higher education has prepared her for understanding and meeting the needs of youth. She is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Governors State University. In addition to publications in professional journals and a textbook as well as presentations at academic conferences, she frequently reviews manuscripts for a variety of academic journals and has served as a guest editor. Her scholarly interests focus broadly on social development of humans, including resiliency and program evaluation. She established and directs the Social Development Research Lab at Governors State University and enjoys supporting student research. She has taught courses in human development, biopsychology, critical thinking and research writing, social psychology, research and statistics, psychological studies in film, and transition to college, among others. She also teaches various courses at the high school level, including a course focused on life skills. She holds doctorate and master’s degrees in human development with a secondary focus on brain sciences from Indiana University, and bachelor’s degrees in psychology and law & society from Purdue University.
In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, running, most outdoor activities, reading, baking, and spending time with her partner and two children.
CO-FOUNDER
Susan Barnes is the co-founder of GR2IT. She has spent her career working in the nonprofit world helping educate children on safety and resiliency. In addition to co-founding GR2IT, Susan is also the Director of Development for a nonprofit that serves and creates opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Susan previously spent 22 years as a National Director and Safety Coordinator for a charitable organization dedicated to helping children.
Susan is passionate about helping children gain the skills to navigate through an often adversarial and ever-changing world. She strongly believes that children equipped with proper coping skills and resilience training can withstand adversity and thrive.
In her free time she enjoys a good run, time with family, cooking, and practicing gratitude.
