What is the GRIT Instructor Certification?

The certification is a simple online process that provides basic information about the program, its principles, and SEL in general. One certification course is used for all components. This means that even if your school has not chosen to incorporate the physical options, you will be certified to do so if your school decides to add this option at a later date. Classroom teachers and school resource officers take the same certification training. This means that you can truly partner with one another if your school decides on the Community option.

Why does GRIT require Instructor Certification?

We know that many SEL programs require only the licensing fee. We believe that a simple certification helps ensure the integrity of the materials when brought into the classroom. We also know that teachers are professionals and do not need to be taught how to do their job. At GRIT, we want to present teachers with the information and resources needed in a way that requires minimal preparation to gain the understanding of the program principles while still allowing for personalization of the lessons as desired. ‘As a certified instructor we trust you to modify lessons or activities to best address the specific school population you serve while maintaining the integrity of the GRIT program principles. The certification also allows for the inclusion of others, such as school resource officers, in the instructional process.
